Rev. Richard Gaskins, a life long resident of Sanderson, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1931. He was the husband of the late Vera Mae Gaskins, son of William McKinley and Nellie E. Gaskins. Rev. Gaskins was the pastor of New St. Johns Missionary Church for more than 40 years. He was well known in the community as a man who many titles. Rev. Gaskins was father, pastor, mechanic, electrician, carpenter, farmer, cook, mason, and friend, but more than anything, he was a man who loved the Lord as his Lord and Savior.
Rev. Gaskins was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera Mae Gaskins; his parents: William McKinley and Nellie E. Gaskins; son, Richard Gaskins, Jr. and Gregory Gaskins; his brothers: Lonnie, William, O'neal and Lumark; and his sisters: Arrie Ruise and Angusta Donaldson.
Rev. Gaskins leave to morn his passing, daughters: Katina Gaskins, Darlene McDonald (Robert), and Yvonne Wallace; sons: Bobby Gaskins (Stephanie), Jeffery Gaskins, Steve Gaskins (Neicey) and Bruce Gaskins; spiritual son, Deacon Larry Blue: daughter-in-law, Ataiwa Gaskins; brother, Mozel Gaskins; sister, Eartha Lee Gaskins; ; brother-in-law, William Lee (Peggy); sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Patee, Martha Ann Lee, Charley, Charley Farmer, Evelyn Lee and Marilyn Dixon; a host of grandchildren, great great-children, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. He will forever be missed.
