Funeral Services for Deacon Robert L. Hammonds, Jr. will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Life House , 2214 University Blvd., South, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Deacon Hammonds passed away on March 6, 2026. There will be a viewing on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the mortuary from 5pm-7pm. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 10:30am, Saturday Morning. The interment with Military Honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00am. Deacon Hammonds was born on March 18, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of Robert Hammonds, Sr. and Sarah Y. Lunsford. He attended the public schools in Duval County, and he was a graduate of New Stanton High School, in the class of 1959. Deacon Hammonds is survived by his loving and devoted family: Robert Hammond, III, Ronald Hammond (Reva), Dia R. H. Waye (Christopher), Romon Hammond, Rakia Thomas (Gregory), and Roderick Hammond; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a number of other loving relatives and dear friends.
