Bishop Frank Willie Jones, Jr. transitioned on June 18, 2026. There will be a viewing on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the mortuary, from 5-7pm. A Homegoing Celebration service will be held at 12Noon, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 281 E. 44th Street, Jacksonville, FL 32208. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:30am. Please use lane 1, if you plan to attend the Military Honors.
Bishop Jones attended the local schools in Duval County. He later joined the Army and served his country for many years before retiring. After retiring, Bishop Jones worked several jobs, and he loved volunteering for the late Judge Dorcas Drake Toy Drive. Bishop Jones had a passion for traveling , cooking, and grilling.
Bishop Jones is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Rosa Gilbert Thornton Jones; children: Joyce Ervin, Walter Ervin, Paula Thornton, Paul Thornton (Michelle), Evangelist Gladys Jones-Rivers, Valerie Jones, Alfred Jones (Patricia), and Frank Jones, III; sister, Inell Jones Reid; brothers: Rev. Charles Jones, Sr., Rev. Alfred Jones (Earlie Mae), Bishop Dr. Alvin Jones Sr. (Evangelist Murria); great-aunt, Katheryn Grover (Willie); brother-in-law, Robert Lee Gilbert. A number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a number of other loving relatives and loving friends.
