Funeral Services for Mrs. Birdie Mae Phillips Staffney will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the chapel of the mortuary. There will be a viewing in the chapel at 12 noon, just prior to the funeral. Mrs. Staffney passed away October 7, 2023. Family and friends will assemble at the mortuary. The interment will take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:30 AM, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, Lane 3.

Birdie Mae Phillips Staffney was born on June 22, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, At 931 Paca Street (her home) to William and Eula Phillips, both of whom has preceded her in death. She was the second of four children born to this union. Birdie had several employments and her favorite job was working at the Child Development Center, at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Birdie married Vurna Staffney, Sr. On March 10, 1959 and from this union were four children born: Gloria, Don, Vurna, Jr., and Tony.

Birdie went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vurna L. Staffney, Sr., and two brothers, William and Fred Phillips. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, her children: Gloria Buchanan, Don (Kadiah) Staffney, Vurna (Harriet) Staffney, Jr., and Tony (Shelli) Staffney; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Jean Phillips and a number of other loving relatives and dear friends.
